Decent security cables, but expect 1-2 duds per pack of 50
I got these to use on some plastic storage/moving boxes to provide an additional layer of security. These won’t stop someone from walking off with the box if they really want to, but it will deter casual thieves or those without the right tools. Plus, any attempt to get into the box will be obvious. Make sure you can secure all sides as needed. This means you’ll probably need 2-4 cables per secured box.The cables themselves are made of tiny wire threads that are wound around each other in a helical pattern to make the cable its final circumference. The wire is thin and flexible enough to be used anywhere a standard plastic zip tie would be used, but is strong enough that it isn’t likely to be snapped by hand unless the person is a world-champion weight lifter or they have bolt cutters with them. Each item is printed with a 6-digit number on them (each pack of 50 typically contains sequential numbers, but you are unlikely to get a pack that has the same 6-digit number as another one you buy. Plus, you can get the plastic cap in a variety of colors. You feed the end of the cable through a hole at the top of the cap and it feeds through a metal one-way ratcheting system, so it is easy to secure the cable, but all but impossible to get the cable out again (the hole is small enough that getting a shim in there wouldn’t be possible). So when you want to open the box, you need to cut the cable. The only issue I’ve found is that in every pack I received, there were 1-2 pieces where the ratcheting system wasn’t functional, so I couldn’t use them at all. This isn’t bad, but if you think you need 50 pieces you’re better off ordering two packs to be safe. The end of each wire looks to be slightly burned to make for a slightly tapered end, to make it easier to feed through the ratcheting system. You’ll probably want to snip off at least some of the excess wire, but keep in mind that if you do that, the end will be fairly sharp and might cut someone who handles the box. These are good for the price, though I do wish the numbered caps were all-metal, too.

Do what they are designed to do
Bought these because I had some electrical work done outside in which I wanted an easy way to keep some box covers closed. I could have used a pad/combo lock, but if there was ever a need for EMS/utilities to access them it's much easier to do so with these little one-use cable-type "locks".

Great item but bad packaging!
I really like the product but items were delivered with the packaging partly opened & missing a few. Otherwise, everything was as advertised!
