Club Dance-floor Ready!
The first single VOGUE from Madonna's album I'm Breathless: Music From and Inspired by the film Dick Tracy is a dance pop song and has club sounds with house beats. It is a very disco influenced song and a number very common back in the earlier times when the Latino and Afro American community were practicing their fashion pose dance styles [to imitate the Hollywood stars] in garage type get together s/underground gay scene as the alternative lifestyle was still not accepted at the time according to Madonna As Postmodern Myth: How One Star's Self-Construction Rewrites Sex, Gender, Hollywood and the American Dream.Track 1, "Vogue 12" Version [8:16]" has a phenomenal beat very disco infused with fast paced beats and an excellent vocal projection by Madonna displaying talent in singing. As her movie experiences were developing her voice was also in training as vocal coaches gave her many insights that are definitely revealed here. The music is reminiscent of the original album song yet clocks a lengthier time and has a few musical enhancements barely noticeable.Track 2, "Vogue Strike-A-Pose Dub [7:34]" produced by Madonna and Shep Pettibone has a different sound as even the introduction is not the same. Dub refers to less vocals and more music [according to DJ Franko from Miami]. While the first version of Vogue has a classic nostalgia to the original this one departs from it and brings a more "new" sound. Additional instruments are noticeable as well as escalations, enhancements, repetitions, and echoes. The chorus repeats, "celebrate" many times vs the original which does no such thing. Also, Madonna's vocals are echoed and repeated along with the other singers emphasizing "Pose... Pose". This is uplifting, inspiring, club strong, and dance-floor ready for sure! The Vogue video and song played tribute to other Hollywood legends from the 20s and 30s. The video won 3 awards at the 1990 MTV VMA's out of 9 nominations according to Wikipedia. VOGUE was performed at the 1990 MTV VMA wearing the Marie Antoinette inspired clothes. And it was also performed recently on the Super-bowl Halftime Bridgeport Show opening. The song went to #1 in the Billboard Hot 100.

"Beauty's Where You Find It..."
In the spring of 1990, Madonna kicked off the decade in a fashionable way with the club anthem "Vogue," which is one of her signature and most recognizable hits. Shep Pettibone's production gives it an infectious house-ed up vibe, and it's armed with one of the most memorable basslines I've heard in any dance single. As a tribute to trendsetting Hollywood legends, the single did cause some controversy among groups who pointed out that it ignored the Black actresses whose style and glamour inspired the "voguing" that's now known as a dance. It's a valid point, but there's still no denying the rush of energy that this single delivers. Even after all these years, "Vogue" still remains in vogue. A definite classic.
