Writes adequately, slow to start but once you get it writing it gives a nice line. My issue is with the quality of the pen's finish. After less than one week of use as a daily writer the black surface on the pen at both the area where the cap closes and where it posts began to wear away. It's a nice looking pen but not so distinctive that it's worth buying as a collector, it's a nice writer but my Pilot Metropolitan is a better writer at a similar price. I would not recommend.

Very classy, with a great nib. Great office pen. Filling mechanism is a piston which is inside the housing.

Got a faulty pen first up and the seller was quick to send a replacement, As of this review I have used the replacement for about 20 days now and I am a little disappointed. I mean, this one did work better than the earlier piece and I like the flow of ink on this while it is there :(. But, the pen skips letters in middle while writing which can get annoying at times, but I will keep this for occasional write ups. I would say with all its grandeur in design, the pen falls short in its essential quality of writing and one of my first times that I am disappointed with a Hero fountain pen.

Looks and feels good. Writes well, very fine line. No hard starts or skipping so far. Smallish but feels well made.

There is nothing bad to say about this pen, well except there is no English anywhere. But that is not worth a star, so I'll not talk about it. Let's talk about the pen and I.The pen is wonderful, I am into copperplate at nearly 70. My teachers stayed on my "trying to do fancy writing and putting TAILS on everything" in elementary school and junior high, so I toned it down a bit. I have even read an article about children who put TAILS on their ending characters as being angry and sadistic.Now to why the pen is wonderful. It allows me to use it as a ball point or with a little more pressure I am able to do copperplate on anything I write. The nib is polished to a micro smoothness, but it does not "cut" into softer paper, nor does it "baby bottom", it just writes.So if you are looking for a fine or extra fine fountain pen, you have found it. If you are looking for an "exotic" gift you have found it, the box and the gift bag will add to the "exotic" affect.The pen is more than nice, so with the the box, the bag, the screw type converter INCLUDED and the pen, it is actually UNDER PRICED. I am enjoying the pen, tremendously, if that changes I will definitely update my review.Check it out for yourself or give it as a gift, I highly recommend it. Now of course it does not have a white inlay on the cap, it just has a gold plated crest and clasp.I only own one expensive "writing instrument", given as a presentation, it has a fine nib, but it "cuts" and is "too flexible".
