Mason CashNautical 2 Qt Batter Bowl

I have decided this Mason Cash Batter Bowl in the Nautical pattern has got to be one of the best looking batter bowls being made today. It looks unbelievable if you see it in person. I absolutely love it.While Mason Cash is a well known company based in England, not all of their pottery is made in England, but some is made in Portugal as well. I am not really sure where this batter bowl was made. But wherever it was made for Mason Cash, it is of stoneware which is labeled as chip resistant according to their tag.The pattern is beautifully embossed and is of sea creatures - fish and crabs, plus seaweed. The top rim of the bowl has a wavy pattern that is supposed to represent ocean waves. The bowl has a pour spout as well as a handle. Because it is of stoneware, this batter bowl should not be considered light in weight, as there are plenty of other batter bowls out there (including glass or melamine plastic) that would be considerably lighter. The bowl has been glazed in a dark navy color with a creamy white interior. It measures 5 inches in height by 7 3/4 of an inch wide measuring across the narrow edge of the bowl, but 10 inches from the tip of the pour spout to the outer edge of the handle. It will comfortably hold around 8 cups of liquid before you are nearing the lower level of the pour spout. (It actually holds closer to 10 cups before it would overflow.) The bowl is marked dishwasher and microwave safe on the tag.

Beautiful blue glaze, shipping took a few weeks, longer than promised. The bowl is heavy. Was expecting it to be on the lighter side like their big mixing bowls but will keep it.

Mason Cash is one of my favorite brands. Their pieces are sturdy, and beautiful. Although dishes and bowls serve a very utilitarian function, having them be a joy to look at is a wonderful bonus! This batter bowl is something I use everyday . It is perfect for mixing medium amounts if ingredients. I use it to carry water to my plants in another room, too. It is just a very useful bowl. It is sturdy and feels slightly heavy. Mason Cash products have never failed me!

This is a 2qt size in a lovely navy blue. As I get older I want a batter bowl with a handle to ease the mixing and pouring. This is perfect.
