Efficient at removing smoke fumes
I bought this desktop extractor for removing soldering fumes whilst making jewellery. It’s small, compact and 4 filters with it, it’s very easy to replace them. The unit itself has a telescopic funnel that can be angled towards the work you are soldering. It does have to be close enough to suction the smoke away. The auction is very quiet and very efficient. If you wanted to remove a greater area of fumes you could attach a wider funnel to catch more if needed. So far so good! I’m impressed.

The suction is very weak
It doesn't extract the fumes properly unless the air filter is positioned directly above the source of the fumes. I'll be returning this

Do the job but I was waiting a bit stronger air force.
Do the job but I was waiting a bit stronger air force. Not the best value for this job.

OK, But........
The product details shown on Amazon are somewhat better than the item itself and as a result I can only give it 2 stars. I also emailed the manufacturer before I placed this review but as I didn’t get a reply I figured 2 stars was fair. The metal casing with the filters is ok but in my opinion its let down by the tubing that fits onto the case. Both ends of that tubing need a slight modification so they fit better. Whoever assembled the end cap on my tubing had obviously had one to many at lunchtime as it wasn’t flush with the tubing and I had to reseat it.I don’t think they were alone in the pub that day either, because the connector into the back of the unit doesn’t fit well. There is a 5mm gap which I’m sure shouldn’t be there. One would think it should fit comfortably into the socket. The strangest thing though is I think the mains adaptor socket has been assembled upside down. I don’t recall seeing any of these type of mains adaptors fitted that way. Certainly not on any of the 12v power adaptors we have in our building. Computers, printers, scanners etc. Finally, one of the feet that are screwed to the base is shorter than the other 3 and as a result you get a wobble when you touch it. Granted, it does stand firm on the bench, but nevertheless one would expect them to be level. On a more positive note, despite the issues listed above, this unit does extract the fumes well. I like the filters as they clear away the fumes instead of just blowing them around the lab as with other extractors. Hopefully when the time comes, I’ll be able to purchase new ones.

Waste of money
Complete waste of money , I have it on full power over the top of soldering items and it doesn’t suck up the fumes as it claims . Don’t bother wasting your time buying one , I’m sending mine back in hopes I get a refund .
