StrathmoreSeries 400 Sketch Pads 9 in. x 12 in. 100 Sheets

I always use Strathmore! It's smooth, just the right thickness, and gives you great drawings. I've tried using cheaper brands but they don't have the durability that Strathmore produces.

I got into biological sketches about a year back, finally got some good pencils and tools, and grabbed a Strathmore 300 series sketchpad. I've got that sketchpad nearly filled up a year later, and I feel I've gotten better, so I tried the series 400 this time to see if there was a great jump in quality. The 400 paper is certainly heavier, but not by a whole lot. It's got a great tooth to it, and erases easily. I haven't finished my first sketch yet on it, but I think I'm gonna like this one. I was worried about the spiral binding being on the left, as I'm a lefty, but doing landscapes are wonderful and one only needs to turn the book over to have the rings on the right side for portrait "mode." I'm champing at the bit to try some of their specialty papers, (and the Pitt Graphite Faber-Castell Matte pencils) but as for my daily go-to sketch book, I think the 400 series is the new clear favorite.

Good size for not feeling restrained but also not so big you feel overwhelmed by the blank space. Great choice for a beginner or expert.

I bought this for my daughters birthday to go with her traveling portfolio. It was slightly too big but she was able to get it zipped so it will work fine. The paper is great quality, and she tells me it allows her to “blend” her drawings better than what she was using before. Will definitely purchase again.
