The way to find your new blade
I've had to shave every day since I was a junior in High School.I'm one of those people with baby-face skin and facial hair the texture of coarse sand paper. Therefore shaving is/was and has been a nightmare for me.I got around this for a long time by simply growing and maintaining a beard. But then I got to the point of having more hair below the nose than above, coupled with looking a lot like Santa Claus. I had to go back to shaving. After going with the uber-expensive blades, they did address the problem. However, because they were so expensive I used them until they were just too dull to use. I remember well the razor slipping from my hand but hung on the facial hair. Shaving had returned to being a nightmare.I then tried the big on-line shaving club, getting a new package of blades once a month. That was ok as I'd switch blades every Sunday, but they varied in quality. I also ended up with shaving bumps and razor burn...so now where do I go?Well, I did some on-line research, and guess what? I'm not alone. Universally, the solution was go back to single blade razors like I used in high school. That left my options at a safety razor, a shavette or a straight razor. The last two, in all honesty, scare me.I bought a safety razor at the local store, tried the blades that came with it...the first shave was ok, second shave was meh, the third shave, well, there wasn't going to be a forth shave. Then I turned to this assortment. The evaluation....I used Premo Mint shave cream through the whole test. It works well and I like a mug and brush cream over the canned stuff. A hot lather shave is something to be appreciated. You'll have to figure out which creme and brush works best for you.Understand that you're trying a variety of blades, and in all likely hood you're going to nick yourself. Some blades are just not to be held to your face. What I wanted was the blade that gave the best shave without pulling, nicking or any discomfort. In this assortment, you've got nine different blades. All blades ARE NOT created equal, just like all faces.I decided to give each package two shaves for the initial "cut". The Personna was so bad I didn't bother with the second shave and almost didn't finish the first. And those, of course, are the package with ten blades. The Derby Extra made it into the next step even though the second shave was terrible as the first shave was fine.Wilkinson, Derby Premium, Personna, and Gillette were eliminated in the first round. They either pulled, nicked or just didn't give me the shave I wanted. Again, this is all based on my face and beard, and Your Mileage May Vary. That left the Derby Extra, both Sharks, and both Astras. The second round was single shaves, looking for one that didn't pull or nick and gave the best quality of shave. The Derby Extra and one Astra got tossed in the bag here. That left the Sharks and one remaining Astra. Any of them gave a great shave, but all told, the Shark Chrome won by, shall we say, a razor thin margin.Final comment...I get major chuckles out of questions concerning the number of shaves per blade. In the on line club, I was spending seven dollars and change per month for cartridge blades. Each blade I used for a week, call it seven shaves, twenty eight shaves per month. That works out to around twenty five cents per shave.Consider that Amazon is selling bulk packages of these blades such as Shark Chrome for less than ten cents a blade. Even if I throw the blade out with but a single shave, it's a small fraction of what I was paying for the cartridge blades.Your face my be fine with a new blade a week or whatever, but for me, it's one and done.

All pretty good, except the sharks
This is a good mix. I preferred some over others but all of these provided a pretty good head shave except the Shark blades. They are utter garbage. I tried with half a dozen different razors and had the same painful and bloody experience nearly every time. They are simply not sharp enough to provide an adequate shave.

Good selection of blades
So far haven’t found any blades in this assortment that I don’t like. Use half blades in twig razor.

Great way to test blades
Recommend writing what you think of each in a small notebook for when you need to order a bulk of one kind of blades
