The good news was I was able to put twists in ...
I had shoulder length locks back during college, but cut them off shortly after graduation just in case an ignorant hiring person might focus on them rather than my credentials. I kept my hair short for the next decade as I worked in professional roles. I was finally in postilion where I felt I could do a longer, natural style. I initially ordered a cheap sponge for Walmart. The good news was I was able to put twists in my hair within 10 min., whereas in the past I paid $80-$100 and it would take 60-90 min. to have someone do the same. The bad news was within 2-3 uses the sponge was already starting to crumble and I would find little pieces of it throughout my hair. That's when I did some research to find a quality sponge and came across Nudred. The price was definitely more than other sponges, but I figured it was more than worth it if it actually held together. I bought the blue one a year ago and actually still have it. It still works and looks better after a year than the cheap sponge did after a week. After some time I decided to try the red sponge because after some months i didn't like how skinny the blue sponge made my twists. Similar to the blue sponge, the read sponge is able to stand up to daily use over months with very little crumbling. In my opinion it's better to spend more money for a sponge that can last over a year rather than cheap sponges that need to be replaced within weeks and leave you hair full of debris. However, you may have to re-glue the handle to the sponge after many months of daily use. Even still, I find that to be a minor issue being the actual holes remain in tact for over a year.

Almost threw this away....again
RIP to all the curl sponges I threw away because I wasn't using it properly.Have you ever seen the Karate Kid where Daniel(son) is waxing Mr. Miyagi car and it appears he is waxing in a circle as instructed - howeves, Mr. Miyagi sternly takes away the cloth and instructs him to use circular motion? There you have it.I thought I was using circles, turns out I was moving in a hexagon, applying waaaay too much pressure, over soaking my tresses, only to get a 6month's old baby gerber afro. I had to find my inner Mr. Miyagi and force my hand into a circular motion - light pressure. It was like magic! It tales a full Netflix movie to coil my fill head - this sponge does it in maybe 2 minutes max. I tried putting the product on the sponge vs on my hair and got the same results. I also was able to put a silk bonnet on at night and barely gave to re-sponge in the morning, which is much better than the coil method where it would typically be super flat.Get the sponge, Daniel(son)!

Take the time to figure out how to make it work best for you
This is a great sponge. The diva design on top gives it a cool, feminine look and the type of foam feels more durable. My hair length is mid-range, between short and medium length. My hair is 4c but somewhat fine. When my wet, my hair presents with tiny perfectly circular coils, but it dries to more of a frizz. I've been using the sponge for about a year to create a look of chunky curls without using perm rods or flexirods. I recently discovered that a clockwise rotation, instead of counter-clockwise, gives my hair the curliest look. It took several tries for me to figure out the touch and motion that gives me the looks I like, but it's been worth it. This sponge works for me and I recommend it to others.

The best part is that I think my hair looks better ...
This product is excellence. I literally have fresh looking shiny twist every time I step out. Depending on temperature and preferences I change up my hair quite a bit. All I do is wash my hair normally and give myself a conditioner as I always do. I make sure my fro is completely dry. I could normally just go out as is because the style of my cut doesn't depend on if I styled my hair or not but if I want to take it to another level all I do is apply the Coil I.T (if I want my hair more coiled and springy)(the hold is stronger, you can feel it as you put just a little bit in your hair just re twist daily or as often as needed), the Twist I.T (if I want my hair looser )(the hold is a slight looser than the Coil I.T, just re twist daily or as often as needed) and the Lock I.T(which I have purchase but haven't used yet but may during the winter months). After applying your prefer choice of Nudred styling agent throughout your hair (which I highly recommend) start of slowly in circular motions in one direction(so if started clockwise or counter clock wise then continue in that same direction for the duration. DO NOT CHANGE DIRECTION ONCE YOU BEGiN UNTIL YOU FINISH EVEN IF YOUR ARMS BECOME TIRED, TAKE A BREAK THEN CONTINUE,), I have a big head so I know this. The patterns will start out as loose naps but then the more you go over you head the more pronounce your twist will look. I usually start with the Standard size and then after all my hair is fully twisted I go back over my hair putting just a smidge of whichever Nudred styling agent I decide to use on the Travel size (mini size) itself which really individualize the fresh twisted hair even more. The best part is that I think my hair looks better the next day when I retouch with the sponges. I usually keep my hair twisted every three days depending on my level of activity before washing and repeating the above steps. The amount of time it takes for me is 30 minutes (but again I have a big head). ALSO REMEMBER USE THE SAME STYLING AGENT WHILE RETOUCHING DONT CHANGE PRODUCTS UNTIL YOU HAVE FULLY WASH YOUR HAIR AND STARTED THE PROCESS FROM SCRATCH AGAIN.(Most will probably go longer and I could probably keep my twist in longer but I mainly switch it up for two reason. First my hair attracts dirt like everyone else and I just like the feeling that comes with having fresh wash hair. Second I'm not interested in having dreads (already had dreads until it became more popular(like to stay ahead)which takes more maintenance that just having twist). Oh and I definitely did not get paid for my review .(I did the paying!!!) Good Luck !!!

Buy once you know
I’d recommend, I say if you’ve bought cheaper ones that work but crap out on you quick, buy this. I’ve bought a few and the quality of this is cool, I’m still on my first one and it’s aster me at east a month of some of my other ones.... if you haven’t bought one, I say use a cheaper brush with similar dimensions, the blue sponge leaves me with the results I like the most, but I’d use the red sponge it I wanted permanent dreads.
